At Scot Lubricants we view Quality Control as a critical element of our business.  We are firmly committed to compound high performance lubricants.    

Our products are formulated from select base oils carefully blended to the most exacting standards in combination with fortified performance, anti-wear and protection additives.  Our products meet all current API and OEM performance specs. We ensure all products leaving our facility meet or exceed proper specifications.

Our lab analyzes our manufactured motor oils according to industry standards -- ASTM D1500, D6481, D4052, D5949, D5800B, D92, D5293, and D7279.

Our lab is equipped with up-to-date equipment that is certified, inspected and recalibrated on a regular basis including...

  • X-Ray Spectrometer – Used to insure the finished product meets design tolerances.  Checks the calcium phosphorous and zinc levels of the product.
  • Colorimeter – Assists in determining the product’s purity.  Checks the color thumbprint of the finished product.
  • Density Meter – Used to determine specific gravity and insures our product meets required specifications.
  • Pour Point Analyzer – Used to determine the lowest temperature a product can be poured.
  • Noak Volatility – Determines the percentage of evaporation loss in the product.
  • Multi-flash Point Tester – Determines the flash and fire point of the product.
    Cold Crank Simulator – Imitates the starting of an engine (cranking) at specified low temperatures.
  • Viscometer – Measures the fluid resistance of the product to the flow rate (viscosity).

 

Pour Point Analyzer – Used to determine the lowest temperature a product can be poured. Auto Visbath Colorimeter – Assists in determining the product's purity.  Checks the color thumbprint of the finished product. Density Meter – Used to determine specific gravity and insures our product meets required specifications.
